Longing

12" x 12" acrylic on canvas; gold-leaf on outside edges

I often save words or phrases that may work well for naming a painting. I called this small painting simply “Longing” but originally thought I’d call it ‘werifesteria’. However, I was not quite sure how to pronounce the word or whether it would have the rhythm I was seeking. Werifesteria means ‘to wander longingly through the forest in search of mystery’. I liked that and in particular the ‘longing in the forest’ aspect of it, which I feel suited this painting.
