Repose, Wickaninnish Beach

If you’ve ever lived on or visited the west coast of Vancouver Island, you may recognize this view of the curve of Long Beach, looking north into Wickaninnish Bay. I chose to capture it on a restful day, without its more common crash and fury, or surfable waves. Through decades there, I’ve seen the coast in every mood—from furious to almost, but more rarely, placid. I love all its personalities but chose to paint this view in ‘repose’, a day to celebrate a more tranquil beach escape.
